BCL. West Ridgley claimed a win over the Tall Timbers Forest Stanley Demons during round two of the Burnie Cricket League on Saturday.
Hosting their opponents in Stanley, the Demons bowled first to see West Ridgley 9/185.
West Ridgley’s opening partnership of 74 runs between Adrian King and Thomas Duff put the pressure on the Forest Stanley bowlers before the local cricketers stepped up their game.
Bowling a solid 10 overs, Brandon Tonks claimed the wicket of Duff adding two maidens and a second wicket shortly after and conceded just 27 runs.
Demons’ coach Jimmy Martin praised young Brody Davison following the game for claiming the “highly valued wicket” of King.
Iain Bruce claimed a further two wickets and two maidens from 26 runs in a terrific bowling display.
Stepping in with the bat, the top order was knocked out early before Tyler Kadow smacked five fours and a grand total of 41 runs to put the home side in good stead.
Kadow and Mitchell Bellinger combined for a 68-run partnership before Bellinger fell just before drinks.
Following the break, six wickets were lost in quick succession and just 21 runs earned before West Ridgley claimed the final wicket and went home victorious with the Demons all out for 121 from 38.1 overs.
The two Circular Head sides, Forest Stanley and the Smithton Stars, will meet this Saturday for a round three clash at the Stanley Recreation Ground from 12pm.
In other cricket action, the Circular Head TOP Fish Colts Under 13s and Circular Head Cowbiz Colts U/17s will each face the Wynyard Blues in round one of the Cricket North West roster this Sunday (October 30) at the Stanley Recreation Ground from 10am.
