BCL. The Tall Timbers Forest Stanley Demons cinched a victory from Acton during round six of the Burnie Cricket League played in Stanley on Saturday.
The home side filled the field in the first innings to bowl their opponents all out for 86 runs from 29.3 overs.
Bowling an impressive seven overs, Brandon Tonks claimed five wickets from 13 runs while coach Kade Bellinger bowled with class to steal three wickets from 13 runs. Mitchell Bellinger and Iain Bruce also bowled one wicket each for 17 and 38 runs respectively while Matthew Bowen and Matthew Smith held a catch each.
As the second innings ensued, Marty Hardy (19 not out) and Nic Bellinger (55 not out) partnered to chase down their opponents’ score within a swift 16.1 overs and reach 88 runs.
In the other game, Perry’s Quality Meats Smithton Stars travelled to meet with Riana.
The visitors opened the game with the bat in hand to see Jake Russell (14) and Kalien Oates (11) reach double digits and assist in the side reaching a total of 54 runs from 34 overs.
A catch from Jacob Finch, bowled by Lachlan Oates, opened the second innings however the home side was too strong, sacrificing only two batsmen to reach 55 runs in 13.5 overs.
During round seven, set to be played this Saturday (December 9), Smithton Stars will travel to meet Myalla while Forest Stanley also play away against Riana.
Round three of the Burnie Cricket League Twenty20 competition will be played this Sunday (December 10) when Smithton Stars host Stowport and Forest Stanley Demons play Somerset.
