Motorcycles. For a small-town business, winning a state award is a big deal. When it happens for a third time, they know they’re doing something right.

Circular Head Motorcycles has won Tasmanian Honda Dealer of the Year in 2010, 2011 and 2013 – the most recent award presented.

The achievement was announced at a national dealer conference in Melbourne recently, with owner Michael Sheehan accepting the trophy on behalf of his team.

The award recognises excellence in dealership management and customer service over a 12-month period.

After purchasing a bike at the Nelson Street business, customers are sent a feedback form. The results are sent back directly to Honda and from there, the winning dealers are announced.

Mr Sheehan has worked at the dealers for 17 years and took over ownership in 2008. He said the ongoing success is thanks to a dedicated, close-knit team and loyal customers.

“Over the years that we’ve been here, the customer base has been excellent,” he said.

Selling road bikes, dirt bikes and ATVs, Mr Sheehan said customers appreciated the service provided, starting at the counter through to pick up and delivery, and regular servicing.

He said as a result of this, along with “extensive workshops that have qualified mechanics”, customers are confident in the business and this brings repeat business.

“It’s a pat on the back for the staff,” Mr Sheehan said. “We’re a good team.”
