Dairy upgrade

Investment. Moon Lake Investments will spend $2.7 million upgrading The Gums Dairy on the company’s Woolnorth property.

Equipment supplier Daviesway won the tender to replace the existing 50 bail rotary with a new 60 bail rotary platform, expanding the dairy’s potential output by 20 per cent.

Work is due to start in November, weather permitting, with the new rotary due to be operational in the second quarter of next year.
Moon Lake managing director Sean Shwe said that with construction of a 60 bail rotary platform the project would continue the focus on employing local business. This is consistent with the commitments made to the company.
Local contractors will be engaged for the building of laneways, effluent systems and new fences associated with the modernisation of the dairy shed.

The Gums Dairy is a 1000 milking cow farm and spring calving farm. The new cowshed will have the ability to handle up to 200 more head. The milking platform will be built from stainless steel to maximise the potential life of the equipment.
