CHFA. Following a victory over Forest Stanley on Saturday, Irishtown enter the Circular Head Football Association finals series in the top spot.

Winding up the season with 11 victories and just one defeat, the Canaries travelled to Stanley to meet the Demons in round 12 on Saturday.

A competitive opening quarter ensued as both sides notched four goals to be neck-and-neck at the first change.

The swing of momentum continued in the midfield during the second quarter however solid defensive pressure restricted both offensive sides.

Irishtown held a slight lead as the second half of the game began and increased the tempo to boot three majors while conceding only one behind to Forest Stanley.

Kurt Everett polished off a fine season with a six goal performance, ably supported by Wayne Dixon and Michael Sullivan with two majors each.

Entering the final quarter with a 31 point lead, the Canaries hauled in six goals to seal the game, 6.3.39 to 15.12.102.

Forest Stanley will have their chance at redemption this Saturday (August 12) as they meet with Irishtown in the First Semi Final. The victorious side will earn a place in the Circular Head Football Association Grand Final while the defeated will gain a second chance in the Second Semi Final set to be played against Scotchtown next Saturday (August 19).

In the second Seniors game of the round, Redpa ended their season following a loss to Scotchtown.

The visitors put four majors on the scoreboard in the opening quarter as the home side responded with just one.

A second goal was recored by Redpa in the second while Scotchtown more than doubled their tally before half time.

Tiger Brent Burgess bagged five majors throughout the contest supported by teammate Daniel Littlejohn with three.

The Tigers entered the third quarter with 64 points separating them from their opponents before extending this margin to 74 points in the final term to earn the victory, 4.5.29 to 16.7.103.

In Reserves action, Forest Stanley battled hard against Irishtown however were defeated 2.2.14 to 9.5.59 while Redpa lost to Scotchtown, 3.2.20 to 7.7.49.

Irishtown and Forest Stanley will meet this weekend in the First Semi Final before Scotchtown meets with the defeated in the Second Semi Final next weekend.

In Under 16 games, Redpa secured a massive uncontested 23.23.161 victory against Scotchtown while Forest Stanley managed only two behinds in their 10.16.76 defeat against Irishtown.

Redpa and Irishtown will meet in the Under 16s in this weekend’s First Semi Final as Scotchtown awaits the results to discover who their Second Semi Final opponent will be next weekend.
