Recreation. Always up for a challenge, Circular Head Little Athletics members competed in the Little Athletics Northern Centres Challenge on Saturday.

Burnie Little Athletics Club hosted the championships at the Penguin Athletics Centre, welcoming northern clubs for some friendly competition.

More than 30 of Circular Head’s littlest athletes donned their red shirts and sneakers with pride to show the other clubs what they are made of, taking out fifth place overall in the day’s proceedings.

CHLA president Colin Wigg commended the efforts of all athletes involved in the day.

“Everyone enjoyed themselves,” he said.

“The day is about your PBs not who comes first, second or third – it’s celebrating individual efforts.”

All clubs began the competition with 1000 points and points were awarded or deducted based on the participating athlete’s current personal best and their performance on the day.

North East centre took out first place with just 12 representatives.

A state competition will be held in Launceston on Saturday November 21; entries close Sunday November 15. To register your interest contact Circular Head Little Athletics.
