Colts undefeated

Cricket. Circular Head Cowbiz Colts came away with a comfortable win over Sheffield.

Playing on a sticky, damp pitch that was greener than most lawns, CH’s captain won the toss and elected to bat.

Pearce Watling and Josh Gale were both promoted to openers, but Watling’s wicket fell to a leg-before-wicket for two. Kayden Hine joined Gale for a 50-run partnership before Hine was bowled for 21.

Lewis Nicholls came and went for nine to leave CH 3/88 after 30 overs.

Liam McLaren joined Gale who still looked solid but was scoring slowly. McLaren got them going and Gale blossomed with the pair, putting on 70 runs in 12 overs before McLaren lost his wicket for 28.

Gale was dismissed for 60 in the 42nd over with CH finishing their innings with 7/178. .

Oates 3/18, Grey 2/2, Gale 2/10 and Connor Smith 2/13 claimed the wickets. Both Oates and Smith will need to rein in their wides as they bowled 20 between them.

CH play Devonport in Smithton next Sunday in what should be a tough game.
