CNW. Circular Head Cowbiz Colts Under 17s captain Isaac Perry secured the victory for his side during a Twenty20 match against the Devonport Orions in Sheffield on Sunday.
The Colts struggled to create consistent batting on the turf with Perry (40) and Logan Smith (10) the only batsmen to reach double figures, while four batsmen failed to score.
In 18 overs, the Colts were all out for 94.
Taking possession of the ball, Ben Spinks (2/15) struck early to put the Orions on the back foot.
Jake Roberts (1/12) also bowled well but as Devonport drew closer to the Colts’ score, needing just 36 runs from seven overs, Lochie Hunt produced a fine spell to claim 4/20 and leave the Orions four runs short, 9/90.
In Circular Head TOP Fish Colts U/13s action, the local side were defeated by Burnie Hurricanes Black during round two on Wednesday November 9 before facing Burnie Hurricanes Grey in round three on Sunday.
The Colts batted first to post a total of 8/141. Having to retire after 30 balls and able to return once the batting order is complete, Jotham Saward faced his 30 balls to score an impressive 39 runs and return to the field to make his way to a superb innings of 70 not out.
Eli Bellinger (16) performed well and Jonah Evans (9) and Mason Howard (5) played crucial roles in their partnership with Saward.
With the ball, Riley Popowski (2/21) and Zac Spinks (2/20) applied pressure to the Hurricanes line up however the Burnie side snuck through to score 8/190 in 27 overs.
The Colts U/13s will host their first home game this Sunday (November 27) in Smithton from 10am against Burnie Hurricanes Purple.
The Colts U/17s will play the Wynyard Blues in Smithton tonight (Thursday November 24) at 5.15pm in their final T20 match before meeting with Ulverstone on Sunday in Smithton at 10am.
