Recruits. The Circular Head Colts are preparing for another season in the Cricket North West competition and are on the look out for new teammates to join the crew.

Taking on teams from Wynyard, Burnie, Ulverstone, Devonport, Latrobe and Sheffield, the competition is played along the coast on Sundays.

This season, Circular Head will launch an Under 15 team alongside the existing Under 13 team while the Under 17 side will take a hiatus after more than a decade in the competition.

Coach Nic Bellinger conceded his disappointment in the forfeited side due to lack of players but said the focus remains on providing younger players with pathways of development.

The Circular Head Colts act as a stepping stone from Milo in2Cricket and T20 Blast – now known as Woolworths Cricket Blast – to Circular Head Cricket Association or Burnie Cricket League A Grade standard.

“It’s an opportunity to further your cricket,” said Bellinger of the Cricket North West competition.

“To be recognised as a highly skilled player.”

He added, that it is all about everyone having a crack.

“Everyone needs to start somewhere, it’s about participation,” said Bellinger.

“And everyone will get a chance to bat and bowl.”

The Under 13 side plays 30 overs while the Under 15 side will take part in 40-over games.

In the 2017-18 season, the Under 13 side finished undefeated while more recently, Circular Head Colts Cooper Mallinson, Zac Spinks, Eli Bellinger and Jotham Saward were selected to take part in the Under 13 Hurricanes Academy State Championships.
