Event. Emmerton Park will celebrate 10 years in the aged care home next week.
Following the 50 year anniversary of the organisation late last year, residents and staff will mark one decade in the current facility with an afternoon tea.
Previously situated at the former Wybia Motel, community fundraising as well as $8.5 million worth of state and federal funding allowed the establishment of a modern facility.
Officially opened by the then Health and Human Services Minister Lara Giddings on April 29 in 2008, residents moved into the Senior Drive facility in the month prior with the first walking through the doors on March 17, 2008.
Among the more than 60 residents who made the move to the new village were Frank Scolyer, Ivy Furphy and Brian Hampson, who today still call Emmerton Park home.
Share in a cuppa and afternoon tea with residents, family members, staff, board members and the wider community at the Emmerton Park celebration next Friday (March 16) from 2.30pm.
Emm and Friends choir will entertain throughout the afternoon before Mr Scolyer, Mr Hampson and Mrs Furphy cut the the cake.
