Chase specialists get up

Over 50s. Marrawah was again successful in winning their game at the weekend, facing off against the Rovers at Ulverstone in windy conditions.

Rovers won the toss and batted first, scoring 205 runs from their 49 overs. Gerard Blizzard (2/23) led with the ball for Marrawah, while buttery hands in the field led to four drop-catches during the opening innings.

After another enjoyable lunch, Marrawah took up the chase, reaching 208 with two overs to spare. Best with the bat were Brett McMullen (43) and Neil Leighton (41), both retiring from their knocks.

Next year, Marrawah 50 and Over Cricket Club will take on the Rovers and play for the ‘Mayor’s Cup’.

The club’s next game will be played at Bishopsbourne on January 31 leaving Smithton at 8am.
