NWFL. The Greenham Tasmania Circular Head Giants were left scarred by the Wynyard Cats following three North West Football League thrashings on Saturday.
In the final rostered round of the season, Circular Head hosted proceedings looking to challenge top of the table Wynyard.
As the home side opened with just one goal and one point, a four goal first term by the visitors set the standard.
In an exciting second term, the Giants kicked four goals however the Cats also quickened their pace to secure five goals and a 26 point margin.
Kicking seven majors throughout the entire contest, Circular Head fell behind in the third as Wynyard claimed three goals before a six goal final stanza sealed the game in the favour of the Cats, 7.5.47 to 18.13.121.
In the Reserves, a one goal and one point first half by Circular Head allowed Wynyard to enter the third quarter with a comfortable 62 point margin.
As the Giants booted a second major and second behind in the third before a final point in the fourth, the Cats cruised through the final quarter for the 2.3.15 to 15.13.103 victory.
In Under 18 proceedings, Circular Head claimed one behind in the first term, the only score the Giants would convert throughout the four quarters, to be annihilated by 32 goals and 14 points from the Cats.
Finishing the season at fifth on the ladder, the Circular Head Giants Seniors and Reserves remain in North West Football League finals contention and will play the Elimination Final this Sunday (August 27) in Latrobe. The Reserves will meet with Ulverstone from 11.50am before the Seniors face Latrobe at 2pm.
