Canaries, Tigers dominate

CHFA. In round six of the Circular Head Football Association, Scotchtown and Irishtown dominated from the first bounce.

As Irishtown took the windy road west to meet with Redpa, Scotchtown hosted a home game against Forest Stanley.

The Canaries utilised their stamina throughout the contest, led by a strong midfield and forwardline which secured eight majors while conceding two in the first half.

The Redlegs notched one behind in the third quarter as the visitors posted another two majors before the final break.

Redpa found momentum in the dying moments of the game, booting three goals however Irishtown added two more for good measure, to win 12.17.90 to 5.5.35.

In Smithton, the strength of Scotchtown outweighed the skill of Forest Stanley in a nail biting contest.

The visitors notched five majors in response to two goals in the first quarter before the Tigers clawed back into the game, led by Brent Burgess with four goals, to gain the lead.

One point separated the opponents at the final break as Lincoln Jackson booted three majors for the Demons.

The scoreboard was drawn late in the final term before Forest Stanley errors allowed Scotchtown to capitalise in offence for the 10.9.69 to 8.3.51 victory.

In the Reserves, Irishtown continued its dominance over Redpa, winning 12.9.81 to 2.6.18 while Scotchtown and Forest Stanley met in a close encounter won by the visitors, 6.2.38 to 2.9.21.

Redpa remained ahead of Irishtown in the Under 17 clash due to the accurate kicking of Marshall Evans and Kalon Nicholls to seal the 7.15.57 to 4.8.32 game.

Scotchtown starred in the clash with Forest Stanley as Liam Williams, Brandon Woolley, Xavier Heald, Tanan Grey, Jake Grey, Jo-Elle Lakonaivalu and Morgan Grey secured the side’s majors in the 13.11.89 to 3.3.21 win.

The Under 14 action was competitive as Redpa earned a victory against Irishtown, 6.9.45 to 2.2.14.

Brianna Keep led Scotchtown to victory with a three goal haul in the 5.5.35 to 1.7.13 game against Forest Stanley.

The seventh round of the Circular Head Football Association season will be played this Saturday (May 26) between Irishtown and Scotchtown as well as Forest Stanley and Redpa.
