CHFA. Round 14 of Circular Head Football Association was played on a fine winter’s day, with the match of the round in Smithton between Scotchtown and powerhouse Irishtown.

Scotchtown’s Jordan Williams and veteran Kieren Baldock teamed up in the midfield and even though the scoreboard show a 33 point defeat, Scotchtown played a well-matched and a highly pressured defensive game. This led to Irishtown forwards making rushed shots to end the game with 10 behinds.

Irishtown’s Kurt Everett was in form in the forward, adding to his continual goal kicking with six on Saturday. In the last half of the final quarter Irishtown found a burst of energy and picked up the pace of the match, while Scotchtown struggled with the new pace but failed to give in and fought right to the final siren.

At Stanley it was all one way traffic as Forest Stanley took on the undermanned Redpa. The Jackson brothers, Lincoln and James, were stars in the Demons’ forwardline as they kicked a combined total of 17 goals in their 170 point win. Redpa struggled to get any ball momentum going but the little they did manage, they converted on the scoreboard.

Redpa has a strong Under 17 side, with plans to build up these  up and coming youngsters as they progress in the coming years.

In the final round of the Circular Head Football Association season this Saturday (July 28), Scotchtown and Forest Stanley will play in Smithton while Irishtown hosts Redpa.
