BCL. Six wickets,  century for Revells 

Perry’s Quality Meats Smithton Stars earned a spectacular victory against West Ridgley during round 12 of the Burnie Cricket League on Saturday. 

Playing in Smithton, the home side elected to bat the first innings as openers Aaron Tuxworth (59) and Ben Revell (105) took control. 

Revell’s nine boundary balls and one six set a fine standard for the day as Brent Burgess (47) followed at third in the order. 

The Stars sat on 5/272 following 50 overs, confident and in control of the match. 

In bowling the second innings, the Stars were keen to confirm the victory with Cameron Revell taking a stellar six wickets from 25 runs in 10 overs. 

Connor Smith (2/13) and Sean Ryan (1/11) took the remaining wickets with just two West Ridgley batsmen reaching double digits. 

The opposition was all out for 113 runs in 45 overs, allowing Smithton to win by 159 runs. 

In the A Grade, Acton hosted the Tall Timbers Forest Stanley Demons. 

The home side set 7/250 in the first innings with a century and half century performance from Acton’s Nicholas Reeves (101) and Nick Bartlett (51 not out). 

Forest Stanley achieved the target with four overs and six batsmen to spare in the second innings, 4/252. 

In the next round of the Burnie Cricket League, Forest Stanley meets with Natone at Wivenhoe while Smithton hosts Acton on Saturday February 2.
