Art to the fore this September

Event. There’s a party in Smithton, would you like to come? Then bring your friends and join the fun!

Tomorrow from 5pm, join others for a festival in the main street of Smithton to kick off the Art About Town festivities.

Live music will spill out from Time Out on Emmett where there will be food samplings, beer and wine, or perhaps a takeaway coffee as you peruse the CHArtchibald Prize entries within. Then you may like to wander the street to be immersed in something new.

The entertainment will include street performers, buskers, light installations and more. There will be artworks adorning business shopfronts awaiting quiet contemplation or in-depth conversation from passersby.

Back at Time Out, around 7.30pm, the competition winners will be announced and prizes presented.

Afterwards capture the night with a lasting memory in the photobooth where you can become part of a famous painting.

So, will you join the community fun?

Emmett Street, between King and Smith streets, will be closed to vehicles from 5 to 10pm on Friday September 1 for Circular Head Council’s Art About Town Street Festival. To find out more phone 6452 4803.
