Community. Creativity is key when it comes to entering artwork in any of the Art About Town competitions.
There are plenty of opportunities for budding artists and experienced creatives to showcase their talents in the various competitions now open for entries.
The finished pieces will help create an atmosphere of art during the month of September, as they are exhibited in windows of local businesses in Smithton.
An open competition, for all ages, welcomes photography, writing and art in any medium.
The youth art and photography competition is open to ages 12 to 24 who may like to enter art in any medium.
Following on from last year’s theme of Fire, this year artists can work to the theme of Water.
Photography must be framed and ready to hang.
There is a $250 prize in each of the above categories.
The month of Art About Town is an initiative of the Circular Head Council, now in its third year.
One of the event’s organisers, Jodie Saville says the theme for this year came about naturally.
“The theme of water was chosen because there are so many beautiful coastal views, rivers, creeks and other waterways in the Circular Head region not to mention a huge amount of rain,” she said.
“Following on from the quality of work we received last year we are really excited to see what local artists have in store for us this year.”
The closing date for the competitions is Monday August 28.
