Ambulance training, accommodation

Funding. Volunteers with Smithton Ambulance will benefit from the state government’s $79 million investment package for health services along the north west coast.

The local station will receive a dedicated training room and new paramedic accommodation as part of the six year plan.

Minister for Health Michael Ferguson made the announcement last week, saying “We are delivering on our promises in Braddon and continuing to work with the Federal Government to deliver the health services people in the north west deserve.”

The package will deliver increased staffing, upgrades and new services to the North West Regional Hospital and Mersey Community Hospital as well as delivering stage two of the King Island Hospital Redevelopment, a new ambulance station in Burnie and a new Community Rapid Response hospital in the home service.
