All Stars’ silver medal glory

Hockey. Circular Head All Stars starred throughout the Australian Masters Games late last month earning a silver medal.

Featuring locals Craig Dwyer, Andrew Hine, Thornton Bergman, Nigel Kingston, Jason Berechree, Shaun Kingston, Elliott Mainwaring, Scott van Norden, Matthew Lester, Ben Grey, Darren Charles, former locals Michael Cute and Jason Lynch, as well as ring-ins Derrick Henry and Glen Lucas, the side represented in the Over 35 division.

Playing at Meercroft Park in Devonport, Circular Head All Stars began their campaign by meeting with City Marians.

Meeting with the fellow Greater Norther League club in game one, Circular Head were defeated two goals to one.

As competition continued the following day, All Stars notched a classy uncontested five goal victory against the Over 45 side, Doncaster Tomahawks.

In game three, Circular Head secured their second victory against Over 40 side Nightsticks, two goals to zero.

With two wins and one loss on the tally, Circular Head All Stars took a hard earned day off during the fourth day of competition.

In a valiant fight on day five, All Stars struggled against arch nemesis Marians to be defeated three goals to one and allow both sides to move into the Over 35 Grand Final.

A rest day was provided on day six, allowing the sides to watch on as Nightsticks defeated Doncaster Tomahawks by five goals.

On Saturday October 28, following six days of competition, Circular Head All Stars met with City Marians to settle the score.

In a fiery clash, City Marians finished the encounter on top with two goals on the board while Circular Head All Stars responded with one goal for the silver medal.
