BCL. The Tall Timbers Forest Stanley Demons were defeated by Acton in round five of the Burnie Cricket League on Saturday.

Meanwhile Perry’s Quality Meats Smithton Stars savoured a bye after Ridgley Cricket Club pulled out of the competition at the beginning of the season.

Nic Bellinger (9) and Tyler Kadow (20) opened Forest Stanley’s batting line-up and further input from Jimmy Martin (20) and Mitchell Bellinger (25) increased the Demons’ chances.

However after 45.3 overs the home side was all out or 116 when Acton took the bat.

Mitchell Bellinger (2/24) and Brandon Tonks (1/26) continued their fine season but strong batting from Acton meant the visiting side was able to stay in the game.

After 41.2 overs Acton reached their target with plenty of wickets to spare at 4/117.

Next week Forest Stanley will host Natone while the Smithton Stars travel to meet Riana in the Burnie Cricket League’s round six proceedings.
